Sacred: sacrare (Ltn) - to consecrate or dedicate. To declare or make something holy. Sacredness is, thus, in the speaking, the doing, the being, and the emerging. We have enormous agency to make “sacred” happen.

“We wanted something unconventional, even daring, artistic, beautiful, and meaningful - so we immediately thought of you,” a friend said to me just as I was finishing my Masters of Divinity degree of Union Theological Seminary. I laughed. And thus started officiating weddings.

It is unlikely that humans alone can fix this mess. We will need all the help we can get.
